Our audition form accepts video files up to 800 MB. Clips filmed in 4K or at high frame rates can easily exceed that — even a single 7-minute clip at default settings can hit 1–2 GB. The fix is simple: just lower your camera's resolution before you record.

💡 The short version: Film in 720p at 30 fps. That's it. Seven minutes of footage will come in around 400–500 MB — well under the limit.

Why does this matter?

Modern phones default to high-quality settings (1080p or 4K) that produce huge files. For an audition video, 720p is more than clear enough — it's the same quality used for most streaming video and will look great on any screen.

Here's roughly how file size scales by quality setting for a 7-minute clip:

Change your video quality setting

  1. Open the Settings app (the gray gear icon — not the Camera app).
  2. Scroll down and tap Camera.
  3. Tap Record Video.
  4. Select 720p HD at 30 fps.

That's all you need to change. Your camera app will now record at this setting until you change it back.

📝 Note: If you see a "ProRes" or "Cinematic" option anywhere, leave those off. They produce very large files.

Android settings vary by phone brand, but the process is similar on all of them. You change the resolution inside the Camera app itself.
